The day was hot and the pavement dry with temperatures near 90 degrees. The race featured a port-a-potty trailer with real toilets, urninals, and air conditioning. This alone makes the race rank very high among races I recommend.

56 riders started and no crashes that I know of, although there was the usual sounds of pavement grinding pedals, crossed wheels buzzing and the resulting obscenities. Most teams had 3 guys, so I was expecting one of them to organize a good leadout, which I could capitalize on. None seemed to be able to form a train and I ended up near the front with little draft, so it was an easy decision to go early with two corners to go. I was able to hold off the 2nd place guy by about 2 bike lengths by his estimate. A medal, some money, and a watch were better prizes than I've had in a while. Anyway, a good
