What a day! 10 days removed from packing up my apartment and
moving myself and my lovely wife to Lansing, Mi, I did not think that I was
going to have very good legs. My goal for the day was to aid Jeff G in winning the Cat 5 race. Nice cool morning for a race. We started out together
and tried to keep the pace high, even trying to put in quite a number of
solo attacks to see if one of us could get away. The peleton however seemed
content on only chasing attacks and then going really really really really
slow. SO, it all came down to a bunch sprint. Jeff got pinned in the last
corner and couldn't really get around to Sprint. I came around the corner in
fourth wheel and took off. About 100 ft from the finish I was sitting in
second when my body reminded me that I am not a Sprinter. I promptly got passed by 6 people right at the end and finished 8th. All in all a decent day
for what was supposed to be JEFFs...YOU'LL get em next year DUDE!

Jay Ford met me in Grand Blanc and we did our best to get on the podium, but we were unsuccessful. The race began and I got on the front and hammered the first five miles. Not the smartest race tactic, but I felt confortable knowing I was hurting the field (of 50).

Jay and I repeatedly attacked individually, an together and were caught by a pack that never worked except to surge, catch and sit up. It was negative racing at its finest.

I got pinned on the final turn and missed the lead out from Jay, so he hammered and got 8th, I was a second behind him.

It was a very frustrating race.
